The ActorlyModel.
How Actorly runs: what each side of the platform gets, what TapeDrop™ is, and why we’ve set things up this way.
Free to join, free to apply.
We offer actors one paid service: TapeDrop™.
Free, in full.
Post castings, search actors, request self-tapes.
Free, in full.
Receive breakdowns, submit your clients and upload their self-tapes, whether they’re on Actorly or not.
Free to join. Free to apply. Free to be found. And when self-represented actors send a tape through Actorly, TapeDrop™ handles it for €5.
Why not charge actors a membership fee?
Because we don’t want cost to be a barrier to opportunity.
Actorly runs on a simple model: the platform is free, and we charge only for the one service that actually costs us money to provide. That service is TapeDrop. A self-tape is a big video file that has to be processed, stored and delivered reliably to the casting team, so there’s a small processing fee for that: €5 a tape, or €50 for a year of unlimited tapes. For guardians, one €50 covers the whole family.
So TapeDrop isn’t a subscription to Actorly, and it isn’t a fee for applying. It’s the service that handles your tape, and you only pay when you use it. We keep the fee as low as possible to make it fair for actors, while helping us cover the costs of processing, storing and delivering the tape - and keeping everything else on Actorly free.
A word on membership fees.
Membership fees usually exist to cover a company’s running costs. Actorly is a small operation with a lot of automation behind it, so those costs stay small. Small enough that we don’t need to charge actors to be here.
What about casting directors and agents?
Casting directors, producers and filmmakers post castings, search actors and request tapes without charge. Agents receive breakdowns, submit clients and upload tapes on their behalf without charge.
The more people on Actorly, the more useful it is for everyone.
More actors means more choice for casting teams.
More castings means more opportunity for actors.
