Where it started

A simple problem.

Actorly stemmed from a simple problem I faced as a young actor. I became frustrated by how difficult it was to find casting opportunities without having to spend my hard-earned student wage to create a profile and apply for jobs. I couldn’t help but notice that platforms like LinkedIn allowed people looking for work to create a profile and apply for jobs for free. I never understood why actors, often the ones least able to afford it, were expected to pay to look for work.

So I wanted to build something that worked a little different to what’s available to actors today: a place where they could have a professional profile, see castings and apply directly, without a membership fee.

Our story

Now
Actorly

Actorly is the next chapter of a site that began as Ireland Actors Guide, before becoming CastandHire.

Over the years, thousands of actors have joined the platform. We’ve hosted actor showcases, casting director workshops and online masterclasses. We even tried to build out part of the site for crew - and, not gonna lie, we quickly realised that we needed to stay in our lane. That lane being actors. Which is why CastandHire has now become Actorly.

And our friends at Crewless.ie have the crew side of things covered. Go check them out.

The name is changing. The technology is changing. But the reason for building it hasn’t changed: to make casting more accessible to everyone.

One last thing

I started this because I wanted something more accessible for actors. Now, with Actorly, we’re building something that I hope makes the whole casting process a little easier; for actors looking for work, and for the people looking for them.

The door’s open.
