Terms of service

Last updated 1 November 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Actorly for using the Actorly website and service. They are written in plain English, as the Digital Services Act requires. By creating an account, registering an agency, or submitting to a casting through an agency link, you agree to them. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under Irish or EU law.

Who we are

This website is operated by Actorly, of Galway, Ireland. Email: hello@actorly.ie. Actorly was formerly CastandHire.ie.

What Actorly is

Actorly is an online casting platform for the Irish industry. Actors build a profile and apply for castings. Casting directors, producers, directors and filmmakers ("casters") post castings, search profiles, message actors and request self-tapes. Agencies receive casting breakdowns by email and can submit their clients to castings. TapeDrop is our paid self-tape service.

Actorly is a place where actors and casters meet. We are not an agent, a producer or an employer. We do not take part in the castings that are posted, we do not decide who is cast, and we do not guarantee that any actor will get work or that any casting will find its cast. Any agreement about a role is between the actor (or their agent or guardian) and the production.

Accounts

Age. Actors must be 17 or over to hold their own Actorly account; every other account holder must be 18 or over. Actors aged 16 or under join through a parent or guardian, who holds the account, manages the young actor's profile and receives every message and tape request. The guardian is responsible for the young actor's use of Actorly.

Your details. Everything you tell us at sign-up must be true, and your profile must be your own. You may not create an account for someone else, except a guardian for a young actor in their care, or an agency for a client where the agency has the client's authority.

One account each. One person, one account. Casters and actors are separate account types; if you work on both sides, you need an account for each.

Keep it secure. You are responsible for what happens under your login. Use a strong password, keep it private, and tell us straight away at hello@actorly.ie if you think someone else has used your account.

Caster verification. Every casting account is checked by us before it can search or contact actors. We may ask for a link that lets us verify who you are and what you are working on. We can refuse or withdraw approval where we are not satisfied, and we do not have to give a reason, although we usually will.

Your content

You own it. Your photos, reels, tapes, CV details, castings and messages stay yours.

The licence you give us. So that Actorly can work, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, copy, resize, stream and display your content to the people the service is for: your profile to approved casters, your application and tape to the caster who posted the casting, a caster's casting to actors and agencies. The licence lasts while the content is on Actorly and ends when you delete it or your account, except where we must keep a copy for a legal reason. We will never use your content in advertising or sell it to anyone.

Your promises about it. You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, including permission from anyone who appears in it and from the photographer where relevant; that it is not unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or infringing; and that it does not contain anyone else's personal data without their permission.

Young actors. Content about a young actor may be uploaded only by their guardian. It must be suitable for a professional casting profile.

Rules for everyone

You may not:

  • pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your role, credits or organisation;
  • upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or that harasses or threatens anyone;
  • use Actorly to approach anyone, especially a young actor, for any purpose other than casting;
  • ask actors for money, fees or anything of value to be considered for a role, or post a casting that requires it;
  • scrape, copy, download in bulk or republish profiles, photos, reels or tapes, or use them for anything other than casting the role they were submitted for;
  • share a tape forward link, a caster's private notes, or an agency portal link with anyone who is not working on that casting;
  • send spam, chain messages or marketing through Actorly's messaging;
  • interfere with the service, probe its security, or use automated tools to access it without our written permission.

Rules for castings

A casting posted on Actorly must be a genuine opportunity. It must say what the project is, what the roles are, whether and how much actors are paid, and the dates. Roles for actors under 18 must comply with Irish law on the employment of children in cultural work. A casting may not require nudity or sexual content from anyone under 18, and any such requirement for adults must be stated clearly in the breakdown. We may edit, hold or remove a casting that does not meet these rules.

When a caster posts a casting on Actorly, the breakdown goes out to the actors on Actorly, to registered Irish agencies, or to both, depending on who the caster wants to hear from.

Agencies

An agency that registers with Actorly consents to receive casting breakdowns from Actorly on casters' behalf, and all avail checks, self-tape requests and messages from casters about paid work for its clients who are Actorly members. An agency can withdraw at any time by emailing hello@actorly.ie. An agency that submits a client to a casting confirms that it represents that person and has their authority to share their details and tape for that casting.

TapeDrop and payments

Prices. Sending a self-tape through TapeDrop costs €5 per tape, or €50 for a year of unlimited tapes (the annual pass). Prices include VAT where it applies and are shown before you pay. Joining Actorly, building a profile, applying for castings, posting castings, searching and messaging are free.

When you are charged. A single tape is charged only after every file has uploaded successfully; a failed upload is never charged. The annual pass is charged when you buy it and renews automatically each year until you cancel. We email you before each renewal.

Cancelling the annual pass. You can cancel at any time in Settings under Payments. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your pass keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for.

Your right to cancel. For the annual pass you have 14 days from purchase to change your mind for any reason and receive a full refund. Email hello@actorly.ie or use the Payments section in Settings.

For a single tape, the service is delivered in full the moment your tape is sent to the caster. When you pay for a single tape you ask us to deliver it immediately and acknowledge that, once it has been delivered, the 14-day cancellation right no longer applies, as the Consumer Rights Act 2022 allows. Duplicate charges and charges caused by a technical fault are always refunded.

Credits. Any free TapeDrop credits we grant have no cash value, cannot be transferred and may expire on the date shown.

Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see your card details. Refunds go back to the card you paid with; Stripe's processing fee is not deducted from your refund.

Content moderation and complaints

We check every casting account by hand, and we act on reports. If you see content or behaviour on Actorly that breaks these terms or the law, report it from the page in question or email hello@actorly.ie with a link and a short explanation.

If we remove content, hold a casting, freeze or close an account, we will tell the person concerned what we did and why, unless the law prevents it or telling them would put someone at risk. You can reply to that notice to ask us to look again, and we will answer within a reasonable time. We apply these rules carefully and proportionately, with regard to everyone's rights, as the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065) requires.

Closing accounts

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, photos, reels, tapes, applications and messages are removed.

We may freeze an account that has not been used for a long time, after emailing you, and we may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, poses a risk to another member, or is used for anything other than genuine casting. A closed caster account loses access to every profile and tape it was shown.

Availability

We work hard to keep Actorly running, but we cannot promise it will be available at all times. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we will give reasonable notice of changes that affect you.

Liability

We provide Actorly with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care, and for anything the law does not allow us to exclude, including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and your statutory rights as a consumer.

We are not responsible for the content other users post, for the conduct of any caster, actor, guardian, agency or production, for whether a casting is genuine or a role is paid as described, or for anything that happens at an audition, on a set or under a contract you enter with a production. We are not responsible for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, or for business losses if you use Actorly for business.

Intellectual property

The Actorly name and logo, the TapeDrop name, and the design and code of the site belong to us. You may not use them without our written permission. Content you upload stays yours, under the licence above.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For any change that affects your rights or what you pay, we will email members at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree with a change you can delete your account before it takes effect.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also have the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country and can bring a claim in its courts.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first at hello@actorly.ie. Consumers in Ireland can also contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (ccpc.ie).
